（県北）藤里町横倉地域／Yokokura Area, Fujisato Town

今年も横倉地域の棚田で、田植え体験が行われました。

This year, the annual rice planting event was once again held in the terraced rice fields of the Yokokura area.

集合場所は白神ぶなっこ教室。一人の小学生が教室に入ると大きな声で「田植えにきました！」と元気をくれる挨拶をしてくれました。

そこから車で山に向かうこと１５分、棚田オーナー田に１５名程が集いました。麓の県道から距離1.5ｋｍ・標高差150ｍを自転車で登ってきた猛者も（！）

「ゴロ」と呼ばれる道具で苗植えする位置の目印を付け、その後、熟練の農家の方たち数名が慣れた手つきで手本を見せます。

A tool called “Goro” was used to mark the places to plant the seedlings, which was followed by some skilled farmers demonstrating the process with practiced ease.

それを見て意欲満々の参加者の皆さんも長靴で入りますが、「かっぱとった^＊」状態に。田植え専用の長靴がない人は、素足で田んぼへ。大人もひんやり、ぬるっとした感触を楽しんでいました。

Watching them, the eager participants waded into the rice paddies in their boots, quickly finding the insides filled in mud – in their dialect, they even have an expression for it, “kappatotta.”
Those who didn’t have special boots went barefoot into the paddies. Even adults enjoyed the cool, slippery sensation as they worked.

田植えは、腰を曲げたままの作業のため、かなりの重労働です。その大変さも理解し、農家の皆さんに感謝するよい機会となったでしょう。

Rice planting is strenuous work, which requires constant bending over. This experience must have helped the participants understand the hard work and provided a good opportunity to appreciate the farmers.

＊かっぱとる…「かっぱりとる」、「かっぽとる」等とも言う秋田の方言。水や川に落ちて、靴に水が入ること。
