「空ってこんなに青かったの？」と思うほど、透き通った青空が「天空の棚田」と呼ばれる戸鳥内の棚田に広がりました。この日、今年最後の稲刈りが行われていました。
“Was the sky this blue?” --- The sky was so clear and blue on the day we visited there. It spread over the terraced rice paddies in the Totorinai area, known for "Terraced Rice addies in the Sky (Tenku-no-Tanada).” On this day, the last rice harvesting of the year was underway.
コンバインに乗っているのは、「またぎの里農事組合法人すずき農産」の鈴木豊代表です。代表を含めて７戸の農家が、戸鳥内の棚田で米作りをしています。
Riding on a combine harvester is Mr. Yutaka Suzuki, a representative of Matagi-no-sato Agricultural Union Suzuki Nosan. Including Mr. Suzuki, seven farmers grow rice in the terraced rice paddies in Totorinai.

鈴木代表は、「幹線用水路が長くて維持管理が大変」と言っていましたが、若い方が地域と棚田を維持管理している様子は頼もしく、天空の棚田は今後の発展も期待できるのではと感じました。
Mr. Suzuki said, "The trunk canal is long and difficult to maintain and manage." However, it was encouraging to see such young people engaging in maintenance and management of the community and the terraced rice paddies, and we felt that Tenku-no-Tanada has great potential for future development.
