Key details
The guesthouse is located in the Omata region amidst a vast expanse of rural scenery. Whether you have a particular reason for visiting the area or are just coming for some leisurely relaxation time, this is definitely a place you will want to return to in future.
The guesthouse has an unusual stove for cooking rice (please make a reservation in advance). How about the aromatic “okoge” (scorched rice), served very hot? “Tamago kake gohan” (raw egg on rice) is prepared as a treat for guests and is also very popular.
Message from the Owner
This is the first farm inn established in Akita city. It is a farmhouse-cum-private home, where you can relax and unwind as you wish.
We used to be a farming family. Our four children have now married and left home. Later, after my parents passed away and it was just my wife and I living here, we felt quite lonely. We are in our 60s now. One day when we were thinking about what we could do next, we saw a TV program about farmhouses being put to use as guesthouses.
We thought to ourselves, “This is something we could do… Why don't we give it a try?” We said to each other, “Wouldn’t it be wonderful for children from the city to come here and experience farming for themselves and touch the soil with their hands? We would love them to breathe in the fresh country air, or see the frogs, dragonflies and fireflies around here, as well as the birds flying in the wide open skies up above.
We lead a self-sufficient life here. We would be delighted to prepare a meal for you - crab or fish, such as loach, caught in the river and cooked on our stove, served with mountain and local vegetables. We invite you to come here to rest your heart and mind. We look forward to your visit.
